Racism can take various forms

Updated: Dec 29, 2023

Racism can take various forms, including individual prejudice, institutional discrimination, and hate crimes. These manifestations of racism are interconnected yet distinct in their impact on individuals and communities. Personal prejudice refers to biased attitudes and beliefs individuals hold towards individuals or groups based on race. Institutional discrimination refers to policies, practices, and systems that perpetuate unequal treatment and opportunities for certain racial groups within institutions such as education, employment, and criminal justice. Hate crimes, on the other hand, are acts of violence or hostility motivated by racial bias, targeting individuals or groups based on their race.
